For many people, one TikTok account is not enough.

There are plenty of good reasons to want an extra TikTok account, but you may find yourself wondering – are you allowed to have a second TikTok account? How many TikTok accounts can you actually have?

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know – as well as some reasons why you may want to make an additional account today.

Let’s get into it!

How Many TikTok Accounts Can You Have?

Currently, you are allowed to have up to 3 TikTok accounts signed into any one device at a time.

This has lowered from the previous number of 5 different accounts, which is the number that allowed in the past.

Note however that just because you can only be logged in to 3 at a time, does not mean that you can’t make more. You’ll just need to be more selective about which ones you actually want to be able to log into easily.

Plus, you can always sign into other accounts on a different device. For example, some people choose to have different accounts on their phone, and different accounts on their iPad or tablet.

TikTok seems to have no problem with this, and won’t block you from making more (as long as you have emails or phone numbers to register with.)

After all, there are large households with people that all have plenty of their own TikTok accounts. So, TikTok would have a big problem if they truly only allowed 3!

Reasons Why You Might Want A Second TikTok Account

To some people, maintaining multiple TikTok accounts might seem like a waste. It turns out however, that there are actually a lot of good reasons to sign up for a second or even a third account!

Let’s look over some of these reasons now.

1. Separate Feeds

One of the nice things about having multiple TikTok accounts, is that you can maintain separate feeds.

Not only can you follow different sets of people, but you can have separate For You pages as well.

This means that if you have specific types of content that you want to see, you can quickly switch between accounts and be presented with an entirely new feed of videos.

Of course, you need to be careful on how you interact with and engage on videos between accounts. TikTok’s algorithm very quickly learns a lot about you, and what you like. If you browse exactly the same way on all of your accounts (skipping and starting all the same types of videos), your feeds will quickly grow to be almost identical on both accounts.

Therefore, let’s say you wanted to have an account in which you were only shown cat videos. You should deliberately skip past videos that aren’t related to cats, even if you would normally be interested in them. You should also follow accounts related to cats and cat ownership.

This trains your new For You page to show you more videos on cats specifically.

That is only one example, but you get the idea!

2. Keep A Private / Anonymous Account

If you want to have a separate account that your friends and family don’t know about, than creating a second TikTok is a good reason.

This is especially true if you want to post different types of content, or comment on other videos without any mutuals finding out.

If you make your page private and don’t post a picture of yourself as the profile picture, people will have no way to know that its you.

Therefore, you can comfortably use this second account in total privacy.

Just remember however that if you share your phone with other people, they will be able to find the new account quite quickly!

3. A Backup In Case Of Bans

If you’re banned, blocked commenting / posting, or receive a temporary shadowban, an alternate account can act as a good backup.

Often these actions are temporary and only last a few days. Although they are annoying, they don’t always span across all of your accounts.

While serious community guidelines violations will likely get all of your accounts banned, having a second account allows you to still use TikTok if you’ve received temporary blocks on your main account.

Therefore, it can really come in handy!

4. You’re A Creator Catering To A Different Niche

If you’re looking to grow your presence on TikTok, it’s really important to cater to a specific niche.

Chances are, people follow you for one type of content. If you start posting unrelated content on the same account, it will hurt overall engagement – and may lead to unfollows!

Therefore, separating your content into two separate accounts is a good idea. After all, you can use both accounts to cross-promote each other!

Conclusion

All TikTok users are able to have up to 3 accounts signed into one device at a given time.

While you can always make more, it can be a bit of a hassle unless you have another device to use them on.
