Does Speedway Take EBT Cards?
The short answer is that yes, Speedway accepts EBT / SNAP as long as you’re using your card to purchase qualifying items. However, EBT can not be used to purchase gas or other items for your car.
Some examples of items that are eligible for purchase at Speedway with EBT are snacks, candy, soda, and other human food items.
Some of these may include:
- Fruits and vegetables
- Meat and poultry
- Soda, juice, and some energy drinks
- Bread, cereal, and other snacks
- Desert items such as cookies, ice cream, and candy.
- Frozen drinks (such as slushies, iced coffees and smoothies)
- Seeds and plants
Note that pet food, and other nonfood items are not eligible for purchase with EBT. Additionally, supplements, prepared foods and other ‘hot foods’, including beverages such as coffee, may not be eligible to be covered with EBT.
Alcoholic beverages are also not covered by EBT, SNAP or food stamps.
How To Use Your EBT Card At Speedway
EBT cards work similar to all other debit or credit cards.
Simply swipe your card at checkout to process the payment.
Note that if your order contains both EBT-eligible and non-eligible items, you will need to split the order into two separate transactions, which can be done one after the other.
Some examples of alternative payment options with Speedway include credit cards, debit cards, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, and of course, cash.
Can You Use Your EBT Card At Speedway Gas Pumps?
Because gasoline isn’t an eligible item covered, EBT cards will not work at Speedway gas pumps.
Therefore, it is best to show up to the gas station with an additional payment method on hand if you intend to purchase gasoline.
Note that while many other gas stations also accept Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards, they are bound by the restrictions – none of them will allow you to pay for fuel using an EBT card.
