With over 550 Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores in 41 states, Love’s is an incredibly popular place to fuel your car, and stock up on some much needed snacks during your trip.

Being so much more than just a gas station, you may find yourself wishing to stop inside for some food or drink.

But does Love’s take EBT cards, or food stamps / SNAP? In this article, we’ll go over all of the details.

Does Love’s Take EBT Cards?

The quick answer is this – you can use your EBT card to purchase eligible food or drink items, but you cannot use EBT to fuel up your car.

Because EBT is only meant for food and drink, you are also limited with what you can purchase inside of Love’s Travel Stops.

Some eligible items include:

  • Snacks
  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Cold beverages, including soda and some energy drinks
  • Frozen drinks (slushies and smoothies are an example.)
  • Packaged iced coffees (but not hot, prepared coffee.)
  • Bread and cereal
  • Meat, poultry and seeds

Unfortunately, not all food is able to be covered by your EBT card. Some examples of ineligible purchases may include prepared meals, ‘hot food’ (such as hamburgers or hot dogs from Love’s roller grill) or pet food.

Additionally, supplements, alcohol, and prepared drinks (such as hot coffee) may also not be covered by EBT, SNAP, or food stamps.

How To Use Your EBT Card At Love’s Travel Stops

Using an EBT card at Love’s Travel Stops is simple.

All you have to do is swipe your EBT card, similar to the use of any other debit or credit card.

However, some complications can arise if your purchase includes both EBT-eligible, and non-eligible items. In these instances, the purchase will be split into two separate transactions. Both of these can be handled one after the other, so it isn’t too much of a hassle.

If you think this is likely to occur, be sure to have an extra payment option ready! Some examples of additional payment options accepted at Love’s include:

  • Cash
  • Most major debit cards
  • Most major credit cards
  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Discover Card
  • Check
  • Apple Pay
  • Samsung Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Love’s gift cards

Love’s has published a full list of payment options, which you can view by clicking here.

Can You Use Your EBT Card At Love’s Gas Pumps?

Because gasoline is not eligible to be covered by EBT, you are unable to use your EBT card to refuel your car.

So, if you intend to purchase gas, you should also make sure you have another payment method on hand.

While there are many other gas stations that accept EBT for food items, there are no gas stations that accept EBT for fuel.

Other Gas Stations That Take EBT Cards

Here are a few other gas stations that accept EBT / food stamps. Again, these are only for eligible food and drink items, not for gasoline itself:

  • 7-Eleven
  • 76
  • Chevron
  • Costco
  • Exxon Mobil
  • Flying J
  • Kroger
  • Shell
  • Speedway
  • Texaco

Note that some of these locations may be franchised, and may not every individual gas station may accept EBT. To be sure, it is best to call ahead of time.

Does Love’s take EBT? Fortunately, yes! Love’s accepts EBT cards as long as you are using it to purchase eligible items.

While you can’t use EBT to purchase gas, feel free to stock up on snacks during your next road trip. In my experience, Love’s is definitely one of the better places to stop while traveling!

Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them using the comment form below or by contacting the Love’s you’ll be stopping at.
