Discord Pop Out Not Working / Invisible? Here’s The Fix! (2023 Update)

Is your Discord pop out or pop out stream not working?

This is a surprisingly common issue, especially for those running the Windows 10 or Windows 11 version of Discord.

Thankfully, there are a couple of quick, easy fixes that should solve the problem for good.

In this article, we’ll go over all of the verified methods to fix it when your Discord pop out isn’t working, so you can get it to display properly once again.

Let’s get to it!

1. Hide And Unhide The Window

Discord App

The first option is to hide and unhide the pop out window, which can solve the problem the overwhelming majority of the time.

In fact, this option alone can solve the problem without needing to spend more than just a few seconds doing it. So, if the issue ever pops up again in the future, you just have to remember this little shortcut to get it working again.

The idea here is simple.

First, click on the pop out window on the taskbar when it comes up, even if it looks invisible.

Then, use the shortcut Windows Key + D to automatically hide all of the windows on your desktop. Everything should now be minimized, including your Discord client itself.

Next, press Windows Key + D again to unhide all of your windows.

This should automatically unhide the pop out Window, getting it to display normally.

If it doesn’t work, try it a few more times until it does.

Note that some gaming keyboards have a button or switch that locks the Windows key, and prevents it from being used. So, if your Windows key isn’t doing anything, check to make sure there is nothing disabling it.

If this issue solved your problem, congratulations! If the Discord pop out window is still giving you trouble however, move onto the next step.

2. Maximize And Unmaximize

Another issue that commonly fixes the problem, is to use a Windows shortcut to maximize and unmaximize the pop out window.

For whatever reason, this gets everything displaying correctly, and fixes issues with the window contents being invisible or otherwise not appearing.

Like the last fix, this one is thankfully pretty quick to carry out.

First, click on the Discord pop out window to select it.

Then, maximize the window using the shortcut Alt + Space + X.

Once it’s been maximized, use the keyboard shortcut Windows + Any Arrow Key to change the window size again. From here, you can drag along the outer edge of the pop out window to resize the window to any size that you want.

To summarize:

  1. Alt + Space + X to maximize the pop out window.
  2. Windows key + arrow key to resize it.
  3. Drag to resize to your desired size.

3. Delete Discord’s AppData And Reinstall Discord

Finally, if nothing else works then you may need to delete and reinstall Discord entirely.

This should be considered a last resort option, because it takes the most amount of time. You’ll also need to log back in once you redownload it, which can be a bit of a hassle.

Still, it is practically a guaranteed solution, and should allow Discord’s pop out window to begin working once again.

Before uninstalling Discord, you’ll first want to delete AppData that may be left behind even if you go through the whole install process.

This can be located in the following two locations

C:\Users\(YOUR USERNAME)\AppData\Local\Discord

and

C:\Users\(YOUR USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\discord

Once these folders have been deleted, you can proceed to uninstall Discord the same way you would any other program.

When you go to reinstall however, we recommend downloading the newest version of Discord off of Discord’s website.

This way, you won’t need to wait for Discord to auto-update once you reinstall, before you begin using it.

Conclusion

Thankfully, there are several different ways to restore Discord’s pop out window if it stops working.

In most cases, one of the first two fixes will solve the problem. In rare circumstances however, you will have to completely uninstall and reinstall the entire Discord client.
