Have you taken a look at your followers or following list on TikTok, and are wondering what order it’s in?
The truth is, your following and followers are not displayed randomly.
By understanding what order they’re in however, you can take steps to rearrange it – even putting your favorite people at the top!
In this article, we’ll go into detail about your following and followers list, and how you can rearrange them for yourself.
Are TikTok Followers In Chronological Order?
Yes. TikTok followers appear in chronological order, based on the date that the person followed you.
TikTok will always show the most recent followers first, with people that followed you longer ago appearing later on in your followers list.
So, if you were to scroll all the way down to the end of your followers list, you would see the first person that ever followed you!
Currently, TikTok does not have any way to reverse or flip the order of this list. So, if you have a lot of followers, it can be very difficult to figure out who the first people that followed you were.
That being said, it is certainly possible to find out with enough determination!
Is The TikTok Following List In Chronological Order?
Yes. Just like the followers list, your following list is also in chronological order.
This means that you will see the people that you’ve followed most recently appearing at the top, with the accounts you first followed appearing at the bottom.
The fact that the accounts you’ve followed are in order is actually kind of interesting! You can use this information to gauge the approximate time you originally followed an account.
Unlike your followers, TikTok does impose a limit to how many people that you can follow. This means your following list will ever only grow to a certain size, making it much easier to manage.
So, if you want to rearrange the order of your following list, we’ll share how you can do this below!
Is There Any Way To Change The Order Of Followers / Following On TikTok?
We now know that TikTok always shows the most recent followers first, as well as the people you’ve most recently followed in the following list.
But is there anyway to rearrange these lists, or change the order in which accounts appear?
It turns out, you can!
However, the solution is not ideal.
In order to rearrange your following list, you will need to unfollow accounts, and then refollow them in the order you want to appear, but backwards.
So, the accounts you’ll want to appear at the top should be followed last.
Unfortunately however, once you continue to follow new accounts, those accounts will then be the ones that appear first. So, this strategy should only be used if you really care a lot about the order of your following list.
Additionally, you should be sure to write down the accounts you want to follow so you don’t forget them. Alternatively, take a screen recording of yourself browsing through your following list – that way, you can review it in case you miss anyone.
So, what about your followers list?
This one is much harder, because you can’t control who follows you (and when) unless you have a private account.
While you can block followers that you don’t want to appear in your followers list, you can’t rearrange those that remain.
Your oldest TikTok followers will always be at the bottom of your followers list, and your most recent followers will always appear at the top.
Do Others See Your Followers / Following List Differently?
If you go and look at your own lists of followers and accounts that you’re following on TikTok, you will see them in chronological order.
But is it any different if someone else looks?
Currently, the answer is no. Anyone else that views your followers and following list will see exactly the same people, in exactly the same order.
If you want to learn how to hide your following list however, you can do so by clicking here.
Conclusion
Currently, both the following and the followers list are in chronological order, showing you the most recent people first.
Although there’s no way to rearrange the list entirely, you can sort of change the order of your following list by unfollowing and refollowing accounts in your desired order.
