How To End A Streak On Snapchat Immediately, Without Waiting!

Are you looking to end your streak with someone on Snapchat, but you don’t want to wait for it to end naturally?

Thankfully, there are several different things you can do to end your streak straight away, and each is relatively simple to carry out.

In this article, I’ll be sharing what you can do to end your Snapchat streaks, and remove the streak icon next to the person’s name on your Recents list!

How To End A Streak On Snapchat Right Now

Snapchat App

Currently, Snapchat does not have any button or function to immediately clear streaks, either individually or in bulk.

However, there are a few workarounds that will result in your streak ending, even before the proper amount of time has passed.

Let’s look over some of these now!

1. Delete And Re-Add The Person

This one is perhaps the easiest to carry out, but will require help from the other person. Before you begin, be sure to take a screenshot of their Snapchat ID or Snapcode, so you can quickly readd them after you’re done.

Once you have a copy of their Snapchat ID, simply delete the person from your contacts list by tapping and holding down their name, until a new menu pops up.

Then, select ‘Manage Friendship’ and finally, ‘Remove Friend.’

This will immediately remove them as a friend on Snapchat, but they may still appear on your Recents list if you’ve snapped them recently.

So, click here to learn how to clear your Recents list, if Snapchat doesn’t automatically remove them.

Finally, once you’ve removed the person as a friend and they’re gone from your recents list, use the screenshot you took to readd them. If they ask why they’re getting a request from you, you can always tell them it was an accident.

Note that you will need to be the one to add them – from their end, they will still appear to have you added, even if you don’t have them added. If you’ve ever seen someone who you’re friends with on Snapchat but you can’t see their Snap score, this is likely why!

Anyhow, once you readd them, your streak should be gone! This entire process can be done in under 2 minutes, so this is a great solution if you need the streak gone quickly.

2. Block And Unblock The Person

Another option worth considering is to block the person, rather than simply deleting them.

This is more extreme, and will also prevent the other person from also keeping you added. As mentioned earlier, Snapchat has a strange adding system – it’s possible for someone to keep you added as a friend, even if you remove them as a friend. Blocking however severs the connection from both sides.

So, it’s a more surefire way to ensure the streak will be ended.

To block someone, hold down on their name within Snapchat. Then, tap on ‘Manage Friendship’ and then ‘Block’.

Then, to unblock them, follow these steps:

  1. Open Snapchat, and tap on your Bitmoji in the top-left corner to reach your profile.
  2. Tap on the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Under the ‘Account Actions’ section towards the bottom of the settings page, tap on ‘Blocked.’
  4. Tap on the X next to the person’s name that you want to unblock.

After you’ve unblocked them, you will need to send them another friend request.

So, be sure to save a copy of their Snapchat ID or Snapcode so you can easily add them again!

3. Have One Of You Get Their Accounts Banned / Suspended

Finally, the last thing that can end a Snapstreak is if one of the accounts get banned or suspended.

If this happens, not only will your Snapstreaks end, but you will no longer be able to send or receive any Snaps from them at all.

This option isn’t recommended, for obvious reasons.

Even if you manage to get your Snapchat account banned, you may not be able to make another one. This is because for certain offenses, Snapchat appears to ban your entire device, rather than just your account.

So even if you no longer want your account, you may not be able to use Snapchat again if you manage to get your account banned.

Still, it is one way for streaks to end immediately, which is why I wanted to mention it!

Does Deleting / Reinstalling Snapchat Reset Your Streaks?

One common thing people try to do in order to end their Snapstreaks, is to delete the Snapchat app entirely and reinstall it.

But does this actually work?

Currently, the answer is no. Even if you delete your Snapchat app off of your device entirely, your streaks will still remain either until they naturally fall off, or you try one of the methods above.

This is because Snapstreaks are tied to your account, rather than the specific device you’re on.

How Long Do Streaks Last On Snapchat?

So, let’s say that you don’t try out any of the methods above. How long will your streak last before it disappears on its own?

Currently, you will need to send a Snap at least once every 24 hours for your streak to remain present. Shortly before your time is set to expire, and hourglass will appear next to their name telling you so.

If you don’t Snap them in time, the streak will end, and you will need to start over again from zero if you want to build up a streak with them in the future.

It’s this sense of loss that makes Snapstreaks such a popular feature!

Conclusion

Although streaks usually end after 24 hours if no Snaps are sent, there are several things you can do to end them quicker.

While you shouldn’t get yourself banned just to end a streak, deleting or blocking the other person temporarily is a great workaround that still works today.
