Are you going to be updating or temporarily deleting your Snapchat app, and are wondering whether or not it will end your streaks?

This is obviously something that you want to avoid, especially if you’ve been maintaining a streak with someone for a long time.

So, in this article I’ll be sharing exactly what causes streaks to end, and what you can do right now to prevent it from happening.

Let’s get into it!

Does Updating Snapchat End Streaks?

Snapchat App

No, updating the Snapchat app does not end streaks. Snapchat pushes out new updates regularly, and there has never been a case of an update causing streaks to end.

If this were to happen, it would surely upset a lot of people!

After all, with the frequency of new Snapchat updates, chances are your app is already automatically updating in the background quite often. Now that automatic updates are commonplace both on iPhone and Android, Snapchat tends to update itself without anyone ever knowing that it happened.

So even if you see that an update is available, you don’t have to worry – your streaks will be safe!

Does Deleting Snapchat End Streaks?

Thankfully, the answer is no. Just like with updating, deleting the Snapchat app from your device will not end your streaks, even if you don’t reinstall it right away.

This is because streaks are tied to your account, rather than the specific device that you’re using Snapchat on. So, as long as you send a Snap to them before the streak would normally end, you can still keep it going, even if you need to send it to them from another phone or tablet.

Of course, if you only have one device to work with, you should be sure to redownload the Snapchat app and send a Snap to them within 24 hours, so the streak won’t disappear.

What Else – If Anything, Results In Streaks Being Deleted?

We’ve now covered that neither updating, reinstalling, nor deleting Snapchat results in any streaks being lost.

So, is there anything else that will cause you to lose your streaks?

Currently, there are three things.

The first (as you’d expect), is to let enough time go by until the streak naturally ends. In order to keep your streak going, it’s important that you send an actual photo / video Snap to them every 24 hours. Note that messages on their own do not count towards maintaining streaks.

The second way for a streak to disappear is to block and readd the other person. This is a great way to end a Snapchat streak immediately, without having to wait for 24 hours to pass.

Finally, streaks will end if one of you gets your account banned or suspended.

However, regardless of what else you do with the app, the streak will remain until one of these three conditions are met. Again, streaks are tied to your specific account, not to your device, so keep this in mind!

Even if you were to delete or update the Snapchat app, your streak will remain until 24 hours have passed since your last Snap.

Therefore, you don’t need to worry about updates or temporary deletions, as your streaks will still remain despite this.
