Are you placing an order on DoorDash, and looking to split the payment?

It could be that you simply want to spread your order across two cards, or perhaps you want to split the bill among your group.

Therefore, you may be wondering – can you split payments on DoorDash and if so, how is it done?

In this article, we’ll cover everything that you need to know!

Can You Split DoorDash Payments Across Two Or More People?

Doordash Delivery Worker

Possibly. DoorDash has a functionality built-in to the service called a ‘group order.’

Group orders allow people to individually select the food they want from a given restaurant, and combine everybody’s order into one delivery. This allows everyone not only to split the bill, but also to track information relevant to the order.

While it is most commonly used at the workplace for ordering food for entire teams, it can be used by anyone who wants their orders delivered at the same time.

Keep in mind that when placing a group order, that there is still one ‘primary’ person for the order.

If you are asked to pay the full sum and no option to split the order is presented, the easiest thing to do would have people send you money through something like Venmo or Cash App.

Services like these can process transfers in seconds with no way to request the money back. So, it is a safe way to pay the entire bill yourself while still collecting the necessary money from everyone, in the event you’re unable to split your payment on DoorDash directly.

Can You Split DoorDash Payments Across Two Cards?

No. Unfortunately, DoorDash does not have any way to split payments across multiple payment methods, such as two separate credit cards, or a credit card and cash.

This is unfortunate, as there are plenty of legitimate situations where it makes sense to use two different payment methods for your purchase.

The only exception to this is if you use DoorDash gift cards. When DoorDash gift cards are redeemed, they are added to a pool of credit that can be used towards future DoorDash purchases.

If your gift card balance is not enough to cover the entire purchase, an alternate payment method can be used for the remaining balance.

Technically, you could buy a DoorDash gift card online with one card and redeem it, then pay for your order with a second card.

However, this is a huge extra step and inconvenience if you simply want to order food and be done with it.

Can You Place Two DoorDash Orders At Once?

Yes! You can place multiple DoorDash orders at once, and it’s even possible for these two orders to be delivered by the same driver.

This can be useful if someone from your group wants food from a different restaurant, but you still want to place a group order or have the food delivered at the same time.

Keep in mind that if a driver needs to visit multiple restaurants before arriving at your home, it will add to the total time required to deliver your order. Although drivers have special equipment to help keep your food warm, it is still an extra stop.

So, you should keep this in mind if you’re going to be ordering from several restaurants at once, and not get upset with the driver for any extra delays.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, splitting payments on DoorDash is difficult – both across several payment methods, as well as with several people.

If you’re unable to find a way to split the payment, we recommend simply collecting the necessary funds from everyone using something like Cash App or Venmo.
