Are you looking to shop for new shoes on Zappos.com?

Zappos was an incredibly innovative company for its time, and despite being bought out by Amazon it is still one of the world’s most popular shoe stores to this day.

So, you may be wondering – does Zappos take PayPal?

In this article, we’ll cover everything that you need to know!

Does Zappos Accept PayPal?

Zappos Website And Slogan

Unfortunately, Zappos no longer accepts PayPal as a payment option on their website.

While PayPal used to be accepted a long time ago, it was discontinued as of January 1st, 2014.

Therefore, the only way to pay for a Zappos.com order using PayPal is to use one of the workarounds that I’ll be sharing in just a moment.

Why Did Zappos Stop Accepting PayPal?

Ultimately, it came down to the fierce rivalry between Amazon and eBay, over 10 years ago.

It was 2009 when Zappos was first acquired by Amazon. At that time, eBay had already acquired PayPal, which was one of the world’s most popular ways to send and receive money online.

Being such fierce competitors, Amazon did not want eBay receiving PayPal transaction fees and making their own profit off of Zappos.com orders.

So, in 2014, Zappos stopped accepting PayPal as a payment method.

Seeing that Amazon has their own integrated payment system (and now also has Amazon Pay for use on other merchant’s websites), it’s understandable why Amazon would stop allowing PayPal payments on Zappos.

That being said, you can still purchase indirectly with PayPal if you use one of these workarounds!

How To Pay For Zappos.com Orders Using PayPal

Currently, there are two workarounds that allow you to pay for Zappos orders using PayPal.

The first is to use one of PayPal’s own cards, such as the PayPal Cash Card.

This functions almost identically to a prepaid debit card, only you can use your PayPal balance to make purchases.

Of course, you can fund your PayPal balance using any of the cards or bank accounts tied to your PayPal account, so it functions just like PayPal does – only you use an actual card to make your purchases.

The second way to use PayPal on Zappos is to purchase a Zappos gift card on a website that accepts PayPal.

One such example would be eGifter, and you can view their page for Zappos gift cards here.

What Other Payment Methods Does Zappos Accept?

Although you can’t checkout using PayPal, Zappos does accept a wide variety of other payment options.

Some of these include:

  • Most major debit cards
  • Most major credit cards
  • Visa
  • American Express
  • Mastercard
  • Discover
  • Prepaid cards
  • Zappos gift cards

If purchasing a Zappos gift card through eGifter, you can also pay using Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Skrill, in addition to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Shibainu.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, Zappos no longer accepts PayPal for orders.

While you can still pay for Zappos using Zappos gift cards or PayPal cards, they do not accept PayPal directly.
