Have you seen other people mention playlists on TikTok, but you don’t seem to have access to the feature?

It’s even possible that you once had them, but the feature now appears to be missing.

If you can’t see playlists on TikTok, it can be quite frustrating. Thankfully, there’s usually a simple reason behind it, and getting playlists for your account is often quite straightforward.

In this article, we’ll look over why playlists are missing, and what you can do to start seeing them on your TikTok account!

Why You Can’t See Playlists On TikTok

Before we can know what is necessary to get playlists for your account, it helps to understand why you may not be able to see playlists right now.

This way, we can determine the best course of action to start getting creator playlists to appear.

So, let’s look over each of the possible reasons now!

1. You’re Part Of A Test Group

The first reason you may not be able to see playlists on TikTok is because your account is currently part of a test group.

TikTok often runs tests on their users, which are designed to learn more about how people use their app.

They may roll out features to a small segment of people at first, or even experiment with taking away features as well.

Then, they’ll measure how these tests affect how people use the app. Depending on the results, they’ll then decide to roll out the test to a larger group of people.

Currently, playlists are available for some accounts, but not for others. It is simply one of tests being tried out at this moment.

If you are part of a test group, unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait for the test to be completed.

You can tell whether or not your account is part of a test group by trying different accounts, and different devices.

Tests are done on the account level, meaning you won’t have access to playlists regardless of which device you use to access TikTok. Additionally, making a new TikTok account can also help pinpoint this.

For example, if you can access playlists on one account but not on another, it’s likely that your account is part of the test group.

2. You’re Using An Older Version Of TikTok

Playlists weren’t originally available when TikTok came out.

Instead, this was a feature that was added a little later on.

Therefore, if you are using an older version of the TikTok app, it’s possible that you can’t view playlists yet – even if they would otherwise be available for you!

So, you should head on over to your device’s app store and see if an update for TikTok is available. If it is, download and install the update straight away.

Then, check back on a video that you’re sure is part of a playlist, and see if the playlist button appears!

If it does, it will appear running across the bottom of the screen, near the video’s caption.

3. You’re Experiencing A Technical Glitch

Finally, it’s possible that you’re experiencing a glitch that is affecting the appearance of the playlist button.

This is possible even if your account has access to playlists, and even if your version of the TikTok app is up-to-date.

TikTok is a large app with over 1 billion users. Unfortunately, this means it’s prone to bugs, glitches, and errors.

For suggestions on how to fix TikTok errors, continue reading! I will cover this in its own section below.

Most People Don’t Use Playlists – Even For Multi-Part Videos!

Although it’s a very real possibility that playlists aren’t working correctly for your account or device, it’s important to know that playlists aren’t exactly being used that frequently either.

This is true even for multi-part videos.

Creators may mention that a part 2 for a video is available, but not actually put those videos in a playlist.

Typically, playlists are being used for longer series’ that are recurring on a TikTok creator’s channel over time.

Unless they specifically mention that a playlist is available, you should assume they haven’t bothered to create one.

Playlists are a great tool for organizing videos however. So, we hope that TikTok will ensure all users have access to them soon, and that more creators will start using them to make it easier to find their videos.

How To Fix It When Playlists Aren’t Loading On TikTok

Now that we’ve talked about some of the reasons why TikTok may not be allowing you to view visits, let’s look over some of the possible fixes for this.

Note that if you’re part of a test group, there is no way to make playlists appear for that account – your only solution is to wait.

That being said, it’s hard to know whether you’re in a test group or experiencing a glitch. So, let’s look over some possible ways to fix the issue:

  • Update your app, if an update is available.
  • Make sure there is free space available on your device. If your device is full, it can cause unpredictable issues with TikTok, as well prevent automatic app updates from working.
  • Delete and reinstall the TikTok app. Note that TikTok will delete your drafts when the app is deleted, so be sure to back them up!
  • Clear TikTok’s cache by going to TikTok’s settings, scrolling down to the ‘Cache & Cellular Data’ section, and tapping on ‘Clear Cache.’
  • Force close and reopen the app.
  • Fully restart your phone, tablet, or device you’re using to browse TikTok.
  • Try logging into your account on a different device to see whether or not your device is the issue.
  • Try using a different TikTok account to see whether your account is part of a test group. TikTok allows multiple accounts, so you have nothing to worry about!
  • Check for any TikTok outages using Downdetector.

If none of these quick fixes work for you, this makes it extremely likely that you’re part of a test group, and all you can do is wait until the test is completed.

Note that the playlist issue affects both Android and iPhone users equally – so it’s usually not related to the type of device that you’re using.

Conclusion

Currently, playlists have not been currently rolled out to all TikTok users.

TikTok appears to be testing certain groups of users to determine how the addition or removal of playlists affects their usage of the app.

Since more and more creators are taking advantage of them however, it’s likely that they’ll be rolled out to more users soon.
