Yellow Heart On Snapchat

Can You Get A Yellow Heart On Snapchat By Chatting?

The yellow heart icon is the highest icon you can get with a friend on Snapchat. Therefore, it’s considered to be a goal by many for people that you really care about.

However, some people don’t actually use Snapchat for actually sending pictures and videos back and forth. Instead, they prefer it as a chatting platform, due to the auto-disappearing messages.

But can you even get a yellow heart on Snapchat through chatting alone, or does it require you to also send Snaps back and forth?

In this article, we’ll cover everything that you need to know!

Can You Get A Yellow Heart On Snapchat By Chatting?

Yellow Heart On Snapchat

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Only Snaps containing photos or videos contribute towards the best friends status on Snapchat, so you cannot get the yellow heart just by chatting.

Instead, you should mix up your messaging to also include normal Snaps, by taking photo and video.

Of course, if you are just after the yellow heart, these photos don’t have to contain anything. You can simply place your hand over your phone’s camera to make the screen completely black, then write your message over it.

That being said, it takes two people with the right conditions for the yellow heart icon to appear, which is why it is one of the most challenging emojis to get next to someone’s name.

To better understand how you and your friend can both acquire it, let’s look into the ๐Ÿ’› icon a little more deeply.

What Does The Yellow Heart (๐Ÿ’›) Mean On Snapchat?

If someone has a yellow heart next to their name, this means that the two of you are best friends on Snapchat.

Out of everyone on your entire contacts list, you send the most Snaps to them, and they also send more Snaps to you than any other person.

This is why it can be so difficult to achieve. Even if you send more Snaps to them than to anyone else, it may not be enough. If they are also Snapchatting someone else very frequently, it’s possible that they’re your best friend, but you’re not their best friend.

Unfortunately, there isn’t currently any emoji to show when this is the case.

However, the important thing to keep in mind is that the best friend status has to be mutual for each person. Unless you are both each other’s #1 best friend on Snapchat, the yellow heart emoji will not appear.

How Long Does It Take to Get ๐Ÿ’› On Snapchat?

The exact amount of time it takes to get the yellow heart icon on Snapchat is dependent on how frequently the two of you use the app, and how many people you both talk to.

Put quite simply, if you two only ever talk to each other, you’re likely to get the yellow heart icon quite quick – within a matter of days or even hours.

However, if you both talk to a large number of other people – or there’s a few other people you talk to frequently, it can take a significant amount of time. The best thing you can do is to minimize the number of Snaps you both send to other people, and instead focus on sending photo / video Snaps to each other instead.

Unfortunately, it’s unknown how long of a time period Snapchat factors in when determining who is somebody’s best friend on Snapchat. It’s likely messages beyond a certain time period are no longer factored in – so you likely don’t have to worry about surpassing the number of Snaps you sent to somebody years ago, for example.

Note: The yellow heart icon (๐Ÿ’›) only remains for 2 weeks, even if your best friends status doesn’t change. After two weeks, it will change to a red heart icon (โค) and after that, pink hearts (๐Ÿ’•). By referencing these emojis, you can have a better idea on how long the two of you have been best friends!

Does Chatting Increase Snap Score On Snapchat?

No. Chatting does not increase your Snap Score, which is perhaps another reason why it doesn’t help you get the yellow heart icon either.

Only photo / video Snaps that have been sent or received contribute to your Snap Score – chatting does not affect it at all.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, you can’t get the yellow heart (or best friends status) simply by chatting on Snapchat.

Instead, this can only be obtained by actually sending Snaps back and forth to each other containing pictures or videos. Sadly, only these contribute to best friends status, as well as other Snapchat emojis such as ๐Ÿ˜Š and ๐Ÿ˜Ž.
