Are you checking your tracking information on Fedex, and see a message that your package has been ‘Tendered At Fedex OnSite?’

This message can be confusing, especially if it’s not one that you’ve seen before.

So, what even is a Fedex OnSite location, and what does it mean if your package is tendered there?

In this article, I’ll be covering everything you need to know – including what you need to do to ensure your package isn’t returned back to the sender!

What Does ‘Tendered At Fedex OnSite’ Mean?

Fedex Delivery Vehicle

If Fedex tracking is showing that your package has been tendered at Fedex OnSite, this means that it has been handed off to a Fedex OnSite location, where it can be picked up by you.

This may be a Fedex store, or a participating Fedex OnSite location like Walgreens, for example.

Typically, requesting that the package be held at a Fedex OnSite location is something you as the recipient will initiate yourself.

It is common if you won’t be home to receive the package, and want to make sure it is safely received to be picked up by you.

So, if you see that the shipment has been tendered to a Fedex OnSite location, it will be a good idea to make a trip out and retrieve the package – it is ready to be picked up!

For more information and details on your shipment, I recommend making an account with Fedex and using the Fedex Delivery Manager, which will also make picking up your package even quicker.

What Are Fedex OnSite Locations?

Currently, Fedex has tens of thousands of OnSite locations throughout the United States!

This means that regardless of where you live, it’s likely that there is an OnSite location nearby, that you can conveniently use to drop off and pick up packages.

Some examples include:

  • Fedex stores.
  • Walgreens
  • Dollar General
  • Office Depot
  • OfficeMax
  • Albertons
  • Walmart
  • Safeway
  • PostNet
  • And more!

You can find a full map of Fedex locations in your area, using Fedex’s locator tool here.

Simply enter your location, and a map will appear showing nearby Fedex OnSite locations, that you can select to receive your packages at.

This way, you can choose a location that is near a place you will already be anyway, saving you from unnecessarily long trips!

How Do I Retrieve A Package From A Fedex OnSite Location?

So, once a package has been tendered at a Fedex OnSite location, how do you actually go to retrieve it?

It actually depends on how you requested it be delivered to a Fedex OnSite location in the first place!

If you had the package sent there by using Fedex Delivery Manager, you will be given a QR code that can be scanned once you arrive.

This will be enough to authenticate you as the rightful recipient of the package, and the person working there will grab the package for you.

This is the ideal way to do it, because it is not only the quickest, but also allows someone else to pick up the package on your behalf if you wish – all you’ve got to do is send them the QR code provided by Fedex.

Otherwise, you will need to bring a government-issued ID with you that matches the address on the package.

If your name doesn’t match the person that the package was addressed to, you will also need to know the package’s tracking number.

Finally, if your ID doesn’t match the address (for example, if you’ve recently moved), you will need an alternate method of identification to prove you live at that address. Some examples may include a utility bill, insurance card, or credit card statement.

They Said My Package Wasn’t Delivered To Them. Why?

In rare circumstances, you may arrive at the Fedex OnSite location, but they will claim that they don’t actually have the package.

Why does this happen, and what can be done about it?

Typically speaking, this is caused when the Fedex driver scans the package as being delivered to the OnSite location, but the OnSite location themselves forget to scan the package into their system.

So, Fedex will claim it’s been delivered, where as the OnSite location won’t have any record of it.

If this happens, explain to the person at the counter that Fedex tracking shows the package as being delivered there. If they’re nice, they will look for it in their storage area on your behalf, as honest mistakes do happen.

If they refuse to look or they still claim they can’t find it however, you will need to contact Fedex by calling 1-800-463-3339.

They will be able to look into the issue more deeply, as they keep detailed records about deliveries, including when they were made, who they were delivered by, and where they delivered to.

Although it is inconvenient, they should be able to get the issue sorted out – packages are rarely actually lost by Fedex!

How Long Will Fedex OnSite Locations Hold Packages?

Once you see that your package has been tendered at a Fedex location, it’s important to go and pick it up quickly.

This is because Fedex OnSite locations will only hold onto packages for a limited amount of time, before giving them back to Fedex to be returned to the sender.

So, how long do Fedex OnSite locations hold packages for?

Typically, packages will be held for no longer than 5 business days.

This should provide ample time to retrieve your package from wherever it was tendered at.

If you’re expecting a package to arrive soon but you’re afraid you won’t be able to retrieve it in time, use Fedex Delivery Manager to reroute it somewhere else that you’ll be able to have it delivered to.

Conclusion

When packages are tendered at a Fedex OnSite location, this simply means the package has been handed off to them.

It is now considered to be delivered there, and you can visit the Fedex OnSite location to retrieve it – just remember to bring your qr code or government-issued ID along with you!

I hope that you’ve found this article helpful, and that you’ll manage to safely retrieve your package soon.
