Have you checked your FedEx tracking, and notice a message that says ‘Delivery Option Requested?’
This can be alarming, especially if you didn’t make any requests to FedEx, or the package was supposed to be delivered shortly.
So, what does ‘Delivery Option Requested’ actually mean, what caused it to appear, and what should you do next?
In this article, I’ll be covering everything that you need to know! I recommend pulling up your FedEx tracking page if it’s not up already, so you can reference it as you read.
What Does ‘Delivery Option Requested’ Mean On Fedex Tracking?
If FedEx tracking shows a message that says ‘Delivery Option Requested’, this means that someone requested a change to the package’s delivery.
This is most commonly a change in the package’s delivery location, such as having it delivered to a FedEx OnSite location, or held at FedEx for pickup. It can also mean that you’ve requested to reroute the package to another delivery address.
In addition to changing the location, it may also be a simple request to change the delivery date.
If you made this request yourself, the message simply acknowledges that the request has been processed, and the package will be delivered per the updated instructions.
That being said, it’s also possible that the shipper, or even FedEx themselves decided to update the delivery, without contacting you first.
I’ll talk more about what to do in this situation a little later on in the article.
What Other Places Does FedEx Deliver To?
So, you believe FedEx has updated the delivery location for your shipment. Where exactly will they be delivering to?
First things first, you should check to see if an updated delivery address has been posted on your tracking page. This will be able to show the exact location where FedEx drops off the package, so you can plan accordingly.
Note however that there is often a delay in this information popping up. In some cases, it may not even be posted until the delivery has been made!
FedEx has thousands of OnSite locations throughout the United States, where they may drop off or deliver packages to. Some of these include:
Some examples include:
- FedEx stores.
- Albertons
- Walgreens
- Walmart
- Dollar General
- Safeway
- PostNet
- Office Depot
- OfficeMax
- And more!
You can find a full map of FedEx locations in your area, by using this tool here.
Of course, it can still be alarming if you are unsure where it may be delivered, especially if there are multiple options nearby. If you have a FedEx Delivery Manager account, check to see if someone in your household requested a change to the shipment.
If not, continue by following the steps below.
What Should I Do Now?
Now that you know more about what the ‘Delivery Option Requested’ message means – and where you might expect FedEx to deliver the package, is there anything that you need to do now?
Truthfully, it depends.
If you are the one that requested the delivery change and you know where the package is going to be delivered, than you have nothing to worry about.
At this point, all you’ve got to do is wait for FedEx tracking to update to show that it’s been delivered to this location, and it’s available to be picked up. When this happens, FedEx tracking will update to say that it’s been delivered, and the address will update if it hasn’t already. Alternatively, it may show a message stating Tendered At FedEx OnSite.
If you are unsure why a ‘delivery option requested’ message appeared however, it may be a good idea to contact FedEx’s customer support at 1-800-463-3339, or 1-800-GoFedEx. The customer support representative should be able to tell you why exactly this message appeared, and where the package will be delivered to if it needed to be changed.
Note that again however, it’s possible that the delivery date is what changed, not the location. So, it may still get delivered to the original address, albeit at a later date.
If FedEx isn’t helpful, it may also be a good idea to contact the shipper, to see if they are the ones that requested the change. They may be able to provide you more details about the delivery, than what is available on FedEx’s tracking page.
Conclusion
When ‘Delivery Option Requested’ is mentioned on your FedEx tracking page, this simply means that you or the shipper requested a change to the delivery.
While this most commonly a change to the delivery location, it can also be a change to the delivery date.
If you didn’t request any changes, contact the shipper or FedEx through their customer support number, 1-800-463-3339.
