Amazon affiliate sites used to be extremely popular. After all, how nice would it be to set up a product review website, write up some articles, and then sit back and collect nearly passive income from search engine traffic? It was great, and many people capitalized on this opportunity to do exactly that. Recently however, many of these sites started disappearing, and fewer and fewer have been starting up. What happened? Can you actually still make money off of Amazon product review sites? Do product review sites still work? [Read more…]
One of the features that makes WordPress one of the world’s best content management systems is the fact that it is so changeable, so easily. With only a few clicks, webmasters are able to install plugins that can completely change the website’s functionality: adding new features, tweaking your design, or even improving your sites search engine optimization. While it’s not a good idea to clutter your blog with unnecessary plugins (as these can slow down your pages load time or cause bugs and security issues), there are a few plugins that every blogger can benefit from. In this article, I will share 5 plugins with you that are essential for any blog to reach its maximum potential.
Niche selection is often the hardest part of starting a new website for beginner webmasters. After all, it’s the first step in the entire process – you usually can’t even buy a domain without first deciding on your website’s topic. It’s also one of the most stressful. Typically, if you get the niche selection wrong, the majority of the time you spend on that site will be a waste. You usually can not change the website’s niche after it’s been started, and it ends up being a huge waste of time.
However, perhaps an even bigger waste of time is worrying too much about the above issues. Let me quickly share with you my story. [Read more…]

From time to time, I hear people say that dealing with spam is one of the worst things about being a blogger. While that may be true for some people, spam can actually be a very good thing as well. Would you believe me if I told you that I actually love seeing thousands of spam comments each day for all of my websites? It’s true. Spam can actually be a good thing, and here’s why.
First, we have to understand how spam works, and how it’s getting into your comment moderation queue. Most spam is done automatically – that is, there isn’t actually a human visitor on your website that is writing it out by hand. Rather, these spammers tend to use automated software which sends out the same comments to thousands of blogs almost instantly.
This software works by querying Google with certain keywords, then compiling a list of all the websites that come up for that keyword where comments can be left. So what does this mean?
It means your website is ranking on Google. And that is a GREAT thing. If your website is ranking well enough to be found on Google for keywords so competitive that spammers are targeting them with their software, you’re doing something right, and that’s something to be proud of. The more spam comments you’re getting on your blog, chances are, the more competitive keywords your ranking for.
…And it REALLY says something about the quality of your website if manual human spammers are coming to your website to spam. That takes time and effort!
So next time you look at your WordPress dashboard and see 2000 spam comments, rejoice! After all, think back to the days when you were getting no comments at all, spam or not. I bet the spam doesn’t seem so bad now, does it?
Imagine if you could become an authority in a market that’s about to explode? Imagine if you could be early to the party, forming a wonderful website in a market where there are few competitors? Imagine that by the time your competitors show up to the party, you’re already the one leading it?
This could definitely be the case with 3D printing. Chances are you already have heard of it, although you likely don’t own a 3D printer yet. However, this is probably going to change sometime in the near future.
The fact of the matter is that the 3D printing niche is going to explode incredibly soon, and you have the opportunity now to get into it before that happens. [Read more…]
Choosing the proper web host is one of the most important parts of starting your website. Web hosts love to bombard us with lots of different useless facts or statistics stating why they have an advantage over their competitors. But is most of the things they say really that important? It’s hard to tell for someone who has yet to purchase their first web hosting plan.
The fact of the matter is that there is really only a few factors that determine a good web host, and the rest of ‘fluff’ web hosts like to add on will be useless to more people.
So what exactly should you look for when choosing a new web hosting provider? Really, it only comes down to a few things. [Read more…]
It’s a scary thought – you could be losing thousands of potential visitors this very moment. You could be making one mistake that is costing you tons of money in potential revenue. The worst thing? You may not even know you’re making it, because you’re not always in control of it.
What is that mistake, you may ask? [Read more…]
Every decision in our life is based on incentives. If you take the time to do something, you want to get something out of it. It’s human nature – after all, nothing in life is free. Everything in some way, takes up a resource we have – whether it be time, or money, or effort. If we’re going to give up something, we want something in return. The same is true with blogging.
