If you’ve signed up for a PayPal account, you may be wondering – does PayPal ever send you anything in the mail?

It turns out, the answer is yes. PayPal may send letters to the addresses on file, including any billing addresses attached to your PayPal account.

But how frequently does mail from PayPal arrive, and what types of mail do they send?

In this article, we’ll cover everything that you need to know.

What Letters Does PayPal Send In The Mail?

Since we know that PayPal sends at least some level of mail, you may be wondering – what should you expect? What types of letters does PayPal actually send out?

Let’s look over some examples.

1. Credit Card Offers

For most people, this will be the letter that they receive most often.

PayPal may periodically send letters to your house containing credit card offers, or offers for PayPal Credit.

PayPal Credit is a reusable credit line that used to be known as Bill Me Later.

Additionally, PayPal offers several credit card options, including the PayPal Cashback Mastercard (which is actually a pretty decent general use credit card), and the PayPal Cash Card, which is a debit card linked to your PayPal balance.

The PayPal cash card is a pretty decent way to effectively use PayPal at retail stores, and is accepted almost everywhere in the U.S.

2. Loan Offers

If you are a business using PayPal to handle transactions for goods or services, you may occasionally receive letters in the mail for loan offers.

My company would receive these on a regular basis (almost monthly if I remember correctly) and PayPal would note that we could receive loans for up to $500,000.

Note that these are likely only sent out to those using PayPal for their business.

Regular shoppers are unlikely to receive these sorts of letters in the mail from PayPal.

3. 1099-K Forms

If PayPal is required to issue a 1099-K form, they may send this to you in the mail if your PayPal account has been closed.

This is a relatively new requirement, so you may begin receiving these once a year from now on.

Currently, PayPal users are required to be sent a 1099-K form if they receive more than $600 in goods and service transactions during the tax year.

If your PayPal account is open, this will be available from within your PayPal account itself.

Does PayPal Send Monthly Statements?

No, PayPal doesn’t send any sort of monthly statements to the address on file.

If you need to view your transaction history, you can do this directly in your PayPal account.

To view your transactions, follow these steps:

  1. Login to PayPal
  2. Go to the ‘Activity’ section.
  3. Click on Statements.

If you’d like, you can also export your entire transaction history from this section.

However, these statements will never be sent to you in the mail.

PayPal Scam Letters – Watch Out For These!

Although I have never received one myself, I have heard other people receiving these in the mail.

Essentially, they are letters that appear to be from PayPal, usually claiming that you owe them money for whatever reason. Most commonly, they appear to be from some sort of collections manager for PayPal Credit.

The sad thing is, many people receiving these letters don’t even have a PayPal Credit card, and believe that someone has falsely opened an account in their end.

Fortunately, these are usually a scam.

If you believe that you received a scam letter, call PayPal directly using the official number on their website, NOT on any phone number listed on the letter that you received.

Additionally, you can send photos of the letter to the email address spoof@paypal.com. They will take a look at the letter, verify its authenticity, and get back to you.

Until the letter has been proven legitimate, you should not send any money or give away any personal information.

Note: This email address can also be used to forward scam / suspicious PayPal emails. Unlike letters, I receive these almost daily!

Conclusion

PayPal does indeed send letters in the mail from time-to-time, though receiving one is quite rare.

Most of the time, they will simply be for offers pertaining to other PayPal services.

I hope that this answered any questions you had. If you have any other questions about PayPal, please feel free to ask them using the comment form below.
