Let me ask you something – how many affiliate sales are you actually making? Sure, you may have a ton of clicks, but does that really mean anything if they’re not converting into sales? As webmasters, we affiliate market to make money – but converting traffic into sales isn’t exactly an easy process. By following these tips below, you’re guaranteed to make more affiliate sales – regardless of how many making now.Â
1. Get To Know Your Audience
Who are you more likely to trust, a stranger, or a friend? Chances are, you’ll be more likely to trust someone you know, and this exact principle applies to online marketing as well. As the person behind your site, you should know your audience better than anyone. You should focus on building a relationship with your readers, and getting them to trust you. Once you get your readers to trust you, they’ll start believing your sales pitches – and this will lead to far more sales.
2. Only Recommend High Value, Quality Products
Remember that trust you worked so hard to build? Yeah, that could all be gone with one mistake. The mistake of thinking of yourself, rather than for your readers. The mistake of marketing a poor made product, instead of a high value product, even if it makes you more money. Why?
People don’t like spending money, and on the internet it’s hard to believe anyone. If someone sold you a low quality product, how likely would you be to buy another one from them again? By only selling high value, high quality products, you’ll benefit both yourself, and benefit your readers. It’s a win-win situation.
3. Expose The Product Multiple Times
Did you know that it takes an average of 7 exposures of a product for someone to buy it? This means that if you’re only marketing a product in one article, it most likely will not sell. This is especially true for more expensive items, as few people shell out money for something expensive the first time they see it.
This does not necessarily mean you have to write multiple articles about the same product. On my iOS blog, I occasionally write reviews for certain cases. Whenever I mention that case again, I link to the review. The review is what presells the product. That brings me to my next point…
4. Presell
Here is what most affiliate marketers do wrong. Rather than preselling the product, they simply link to a product and then hope someone will buy it. Why?
The visitor wasn’t in a buying mood. It’s your job to put them there. As an affiliate marketer, it’s your job to get the visitor wanting to buy whatever product you’re trying to sell them. So how do you go about doing this?
Offer A Solution
When people come to your website through a search engine, they’ve come to find a solution to a problem they have. Maybe they are looking for a WordPress theme to suit their needs, or maybe a specific keyboard that has a certain feature.
This is gold for you as an affiliate marketer. It’s easy – all you have to do is find a product that solves the problem they need – addressing their problem and how this product will fix it for them.
Target Buyers
There are a few different ways to targeted people you know are already interested in purchasing a product. Review articles are great for that – in fact, up to 65% of people will look up a review online before purchasing a product. Of course, there are factors that play into this statistic, such as price and niche, but here’s my point:
If you can rank highly for keywords that target buyers, you are almost certain to make affiliate sales. It’s almost impossible not to.
5. Build Credibility
This ties along heavily with building trust with your audience, but it’s definitely something you should focus on. The best way to build credibility around yourself and a product is to actually own it – and prove that you own it. Take your own pictures of it rather than using the vendor’s. Show yourself using the product. Tell personal stories involving the product. Make a video review alongside your article review, where people can see you and hear your voice.
By doing this, you appear more as a friendly helper, rather than an advertisers throwing a sales pitch at the reader.
6. Don’t Give Up
This should probably go without saying, but of course, you should never give up. As an affiliate marketer, you’ll only get better with experience. You’ll learn what works for you and your readers, and what doesn’t. You’ll learn the best ways to apply all above the above tips. I’m saying this from experience – it took me over 4 months to make one affiliate sale, and now I’m making a lot of sales each day. Keep pushing out more high quality content, follow the above tips, and you’re sure to start pulling in more sales.
Very informative post, you’ve just outlined all the facts. But these methods only work well for some blogs. Mostly wordpress blogs. I’ve tried some of the listed tips in one of my blogger blog, but the result wasn’t impressing at all.. Thanks for sharing bro.

Hey Victor, thanks for leaving a comment.
Out of curiosity, what makes you think that these techniques wouldn’t work for blogs other than WordPress? These techniques are all directly related with what you say, and you can say the same words on any blogging platform. These techniques can apply on any platform – whether it’s blogger, WordPress, a forum, or even a YouTube video.
