You and I, we’re both humans. We like things easy. We don’t want to have to spend our precious time researching things, or going to work, or studying for an exam. We want fun, easy things, and the same idea applies to blogging. But let’s stop and think for a second – should you really start a personal blog?Â
A personal blog is just that – personal. A blog about your life, your experiences, and your thoughts. What could be easier than blogging about what you already know about, right? But should you actually pursue this idea and spend your time and effort we know is so valuable?
The answer lies within a question – why are you blogging?Â
If it’s to get your thoughts out to the world, than sure, why not, right? Blogging is relaxing, and when you talk about yourself, it can act as its own sort of therapy. Blog your heart out, put your words and thoughts out onto the internet. Maybe someone will come by and read it, and even leave their thoughts and build a connection to you.
Or maybe they won’t.
As harsh as this sounds, most people won’t care at all about your life, or what’s going on in it. Unless you’re some sort of celebrity, blogging about your life isn’t going to get you much traffic at all. Does anybody really care? Not really.
So what’s the result of all of this? You won’t make any money off of a personal blog. And this is due to a few reasons.
First of all, traffic makes the world go ’round on the internet. Personal blogs do not get returning visitors, because nobody cares about them. People come to the internet in search of information, not to learn about your life. So what happens when you get no traffic? You get no money.
Secondly, personal blogs have no set topic. Therefore, it’s hard for Google to scan your site and display relevant ads, because your website covers so many different topics. Less relevant ads mean that the few visitors you do get likely won’t click on them.
So to sum it all up – there are reasons to start up a personal blog, and there are reasons not to. Can blogging about your life relieve stress? Yes. But are personal blogs profitable? No, they’re not. If you’re planning on making a personal blog for profit, than forget about it. Trust me – you’ll thank me later.

it depends whether you should or not really start a personal blog. In case you do not want revenue from your blog and just want to share your personal experiences, it is very good. But, as you have already mentioned that we can not expect the returning visitors, earning revenue from a personal blog is a difficult task to accomplish.

Right. My first blog was actually a personal one – when I learned about making money online, I ditched it and started creating blogs that actually made me revenue!
Still, it was a lot of fun, but from a business stand point, it was pretty useless.
