We are impatient. It’s human nature. We want to see things done, and we want to see things done quickly. And that’s no different with our traffic numbers. You take a look at Google Analytics, and the results are disappointing. Although the numbers are slowly climbing, it doesn’t seem to be fast enough. Ever have that feeling? I know I have!
Maybe you’re starting to get too impatient. You see a service selling traffic, and you’re tempted to buy into it. I’m here to stop you. Here are my top 4 reasons why you shouldn’t pay for traffic from traffic services, such as Fiverr gigs.
Why You Shouldn’t Pay For Traffic
1. It Won’t Make You Money
You kind of have to stop and ask yourself, why do you want traffic in the first place? Is it because you want sales or ad revenue? Paid traffic won’t get you either of those. Paid traffic services aren’t actually people, they’re bots simply connecting to your website, and then leaving. They don’t click on your ads, they don’t read your content, they won’t buy any of your products. So what are you doing? You’re losing money. You’re paying money for fake traffic that isn’t going to make you anything in return. If you’re going to spend money, why not actually put it into something like Google Ads, who will get you real, human visitors?
2. Paying For Traffic Impacts SEO Negatively
Here’s the way these traffic services work. They send a bot to your website, and then as soon is it connects, the bot almost instantly bounces off. In total, the bots are on your website for no longer than 5 seconds. Google’s ranking method takes a lot of things into account – including how long users stay on your site. So what happens if you have thousands of these bots quickly bouncing off? Google notices this, and lowers your SERP rankings. So in the long run, you may actually be getting less traffic due to ranking lower on Google.
3. Advertisers Hate Paid Traffic
Advertisers hate paid traffic. Why? As we found out earlier, paid traffic leads to no sales. And what are advertisers trying to do? They’re trying to make sales. There is no engagement when bots visit your website. The advertiser’s ads are completely useless. No advertisers are ever going to target your site if your main traffic source comes from paid services.
4. Paid Traffic Is Just That – Paid
Nobody likes losing money. So why should you spend your precious dollars paying for traffic? After all, it’s not cheap, and since these paid traffic services won’t make you more money anyway, why bother doing it? Instead, focus on free traffic methods such as optimizing your website for search engines, and marketing on other blogs. It’s not hard, and it’ll make you more money in the long run.
Have you ever used a paid traffic service before? What was your experience with it?
Hi James,
I completely agree with your point that the visitors to our site should be original ones. The paid traffic might work for quite a some time but, in the longer run, it is the original traffic that is going to help us!

Right on Yogesh. Paid traffic is expensive, and doesn’t bring any additional revenue since the traffic is essentially fake.

I agree with you 100%, but Google Adsword is expensive, damn expensive. Also it’s very selective and don’t accept affiliate links. The same is true for social media ads.
One point disagree though is that paid traffic is expensive; it is cheap. I’ve seen services selling for less than $5.
Amazingly, the majority of customers are happy with their purchases.
But obviously they don’t know all the drawbacks you mentioned.
I guess SEO and good content are the best way to attract quality traffic that converts.
But it takes so long.
